The Colonial Dog Breed Referral Service was formed in the mid 1960's by the Officers and Members of the area Kennel Clubs in an effort to aid prospective buyers in obtaining purebred dogs from reputable, established, private breeders at fair prices.

The people who are listed in our service are members of several Kennel Clubs in the Northern Westchester, Putnum Counties of New York and Fairfield County in Connecticut. These breeders are dedicated to improving their respective breeds by conforming to breed standards for good temperament and good health, as well as conformation.

When a puppy is purchased from a private breeder, available to the purchaser is related older stock of the puppy. This is helpful in ascertaining the type, temperament and size of the puppy when grown.

When a person is asking for assistance in finding a breed of dog, we have several ways to help them.

  • They can call our toll-free phone number 1-888-900-DOGS and leave their fax number or U.S. postal mailing address plus the breed they are looking for. They will receive the individual breed listing with local names and phone numbers. In addition they will receive information on the national parent clubs' website, the National Breeder Contact information and any breed information and the National Rescue Chairman. All contacts listed are available for answering questions regarding the requested breed.
  • They can access our website http://ColonialDogFind.com and search for breeds and information regarding those breeds at their leisure.

  • They can e-mail a request for a particular breed at ColonialDogFind@charter.net or referral@ColonialDogfind.com
